Pressed tofu, lightly crusted and air-fried, tossed in classic Buffalo wing sauce, then flash-set for lacquered heat. Serve with cool dip + crunch.
🧾 Ingredients (serves 2)
- Tofu: 14 oz (400 g) firm tofu, pressed 20–30 min, cut into 1 in / 2.5 cm cubes
- Crisp Coat: 1 tsp oil • 1–1.5 tsp cornstarch • 1/2 tsp garlic powder • 1/2 tsp onion powder • 1/2 tsp salt • black pepper
- Buffalo Sauce: 1/4 cup (60 ml) hot sauce (Frank’s style) • 1.5 tbsp (20 g) butter or vegan butter • 1 tsp maple or honey (optional) • squeeze of lemon
- Finish: Chives or parsley • celery sticks • ranch or blue-cheese dip (dairy or plant-based)
- Veg (optional): Bell pepper chunks • red onion petals (for skewers)
✍️ Method (Air Fryer default)
- Prep & coat: Pat tofu dry. Toss with oil, cornstarch, garlic & onion powder, salt, pepper until lightly coated.
- Air fry (crisp): Preheat to 380°F / 193°C (3 min). Arrange in single layer on parchment/foil sling. Cook 10–12 min, shaking/turning at 6 min, until edges are golden and firm.
- Make Buffalo: Warm hot sauce + butter (and maple if using) until smooth. Add a squeeze of lemon.
- Toss & set: Toss hot tofu in Buffalo sauce to coat. Return to fryer 1–2 min to set the glaze.
- Serve: Skewer if you like, shower with herbs, plate with celery and cool dip.

- Extra char: Finish 1 more min at 400°F / 205°C.
- Skewers: Thread tofu after the first crisp stage; brush Buffalo, then set 1–2 min.
- Other devices: Oven 425°F / 220°C 16–18 min (flip at 10); toss in sauce, broil 60–90 sec. Grill med-high 8–10 min, then sauce + 30 sec each side.
