TONE

• Rush Hour + The Nice Guys

• With shades of The Hangover (Thailand chaos)

• Buddy cop-style — but neither are cops

• Hilarious, fast-paced, heartfelt under the surface

CORE CAST

Kevin Hart as “Dex Matthews”

• A hyped-up, unlucky American vacationer who thought Thailand would be his “healing journey” after a messy divorce

• All mouth. No chill. Wears too much sunscreen. Never reads instructions.

• Accidentally stumbles into a weapons deal and gets mistaken for an international arms broker named “The Dealer”

• Doesn’t run away — he sprints away

• Weapon of choice: his mouth, a bicycle lock, and random hotel slippers

Ronny Chieng as “Jason Tao”

• A lowkey Malaysian-Chinese translator working at a luxury resort who’s always in the background (he narrates museum tours… in silence)

• Sarcastic, dry, brilliant, emotionally repressed

• Fluent in 7 languages, but prefers not to speak to people

• Secretly ex-military intelligence… sort of

• Gets dragged into Kevin’s mess because Kevin borrowed his phone

PLOT SUMMARY

ACT I – VACATION GONE WRONG

• Dex Matthews arrives in Thailand for “soul searching”

• Jason Tao is doing a boring double-shift at a tourist temple

• Dex stumbles into a secret arms deal and accidentally triggers a hidden vault code

• Now they’re both marked by the Golden Fang Triad, the Interpol Taskforce, and a corrupt American ambassador

• Dex just wants to go home. Jason just wants his bag back.

• But they realize:

• There’s a bomb

• There’s a flash drive hidden in the jade amulet Dex picked up

• There’s a monk that speaks only in riddles who’s protecting them

• From tuk-tuk chases to boat fights on floating markets to being hunted during a lantern festival — they learn to work together (sort of)

• Kevin learns to shut up and listen

• Ronny learns to punch people again

ACT III – THE CLOCK TICKS

• The flash drive contains the location of Project Hannya — a doomsday AI sale to global mercenaries

• Dex and Jason become the only people who know how to stop it

• They crash an auction disguised as “The Dealer” and his translator
