Magnesium, the ultimate mineral (obesity, depression, anxiety, fatigue)

December 6, 2015

I used to think Vitamin C was the ultimate but it may actually be Magnesium. Have you heard about it? I’m very new to this.

The Challenge:
So I’ve been trying to solve my health puzzle. No matter how clean or junky I eat, my weight shoots up. It gets stored immediately in my stomach area, leaving me hungry, tired, famished, low energy. No doctor has been able to pinpoint the issues and all my blood test results are solid (except for high cholesterol, moderate high blood sugar).

The past few weeks, I gave up the struggle. Always thinking about what I’m eating for years at a time is exhausting. All the shopping, prep, cooking, eating, meal timing, weighing, obsessing is too much. This cycle has repeated itself for many years, obsessing and quitting.

Privately, I’ve been practicing letting the Divine take the wheel in my life, like Tosha Silver recommends. Aka surrendering instead of struggling.

The Solution:
I think the issue could be magnesium deficiency.
The other day, I was venting with someone that I’m sick of the weight struggle. My body isn’t using the food properly. It’s malfunctioning and I can feel it every day.

As I got home and walked to the bathroom to pee, a thought flashed in my mind. Magnesium Miracle.

It’s the name of a book by Dr. Carolyn Dean. I’ve never read it nor own it. Maybe my brain remembered this from surfing amazon books section. And the spirit guides decided to flash this info into my brain at the moment I needed it most? I don’t know, but it seems like this could be the real deal.

Magnesium is in charge of so many things in our body that I can’t even write all of it here. For me specifically, Mag is in charge of energy metabolism, obesity around the stomach, blood sugar regulation, anxiety, mental stress, body aches, and depression.

Coffee, alcohol, soda, salt, sugar, and stress drains the body of magnesium.

Dr. Mark Hyman recommends 400-1000mg per day for the average person. Weston A Price recommends 3-10mg per pound of bodyweight. So, a 275lb person = 825-2750mg. Magnesium citrate is best absorbed orally. Too much results in diarrhea. And magnesium oil used as lotion on skin is best option.

I’ll let you do your own research, just wanted to share my quick findings here. I’ve been experimenting with doses ranging from 1200-2800mg a day and it’s been going well.

Today, I had nonstop diarrhea in the morning. Fun times. Wasn’t too bad. The cool thing is I’m hungry less often, getting fuller off of smaller meals, and haven’t been obsessed with food. It seems weight is also going down. Full results to follow later.
