Prescription for Depression

October 18, 2011

I’ve noticed a pattern in life. A lot of times I’ll feel high and on top of the world and without notice I’ll feel really down and depressed.

When I’m high – feeling down seems like a myth. When I’m down – feeling high seems like a myth.

So this is a short prescription to NUKE the hell out of the negative thinking virus and to get me back to feeling bright again.

The list is a work in progress as I figure new ways out…

Listen to:
1. Hotel California – Eagles
2. Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin
3. Time – Pink Floyd
4. Bad to the Bone – George Thorogood
5. Sharp Dressed Man – ZZ Top
6. Smooth – Santana & Rob Thomas
7. Ricky Gervais podcasts
8. Joe Rogan podcasts

Drink:
1. Yerba Mate Tea (chocolate version if possible)
2. A lot of water

Eat:
1. Vitamins, probiotics, supplements, alpha brain
2. Low carb, high protein meals + salad/veg

Write in journal:
1. Every bad thought & feeling that comes into mind
2. Write perfect scenario of the perfect life I want to live. Explain every little detail

Workout:
1. Get back to working out if I can muster enough energy to get out. If not today, don’t beat myself up – do it tomorrow. No matter how awful working out sounds – it is THE best way to feel better. Trust me.

Watch:
1. Stand up comedy (Chris Rock, Louis CK, etc)
2. Bashar/Abraham-Hicks
3. Flight of the Conchords
4. Youtube: Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Tony Hsieh, Tim Ferris, Warren Buffett, Patrice O’neal, Terence McKenna, Robert Kiyosaki
5. GameCenter CX
6. Martin
7. Married with Children
